In first grade of primary we have been playing a "guess the animal" game to review natural science. By breaking off into pairs, the students come up to the front of the class while one student in each pair is blindfolded. Their partner looks at the board and sees a photo of an animal. Then, the blindfolded student asks their partner about the animal's characteristics such as what its body is covered with, how it moves and what it eats. For example, they can ask, "Does it have fur? Does it have wings? Is it an omnivore?" The other child answers the questions until the blindfolded student eventually guesses the correct animal. In this way, the students review what they have learned in the unit in a fun, practical, and interactive way all while practicing speaking in English.

My name is Melanie Duignan and I´m from Connecticut, United States. I´m 25 years old and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to Spain. I´ve now been living here in Madrid for a year and working at Colegio Cabrini since September. I teach English, Natural and Social science classes with third of infants, first grade, and second grade. I love living in Spain and working with the children at school and watching them improve and succeed in their studies and in English. We have a lot of fun in class and I can honestly say that I love coming to work everyday to see their smiling faces and watch them grow. I also really like living in Madrid and learning about the Spanish culture, food and language. Everyday is an adventure at Colegio Cabrini and in Spain, and I´m enjoying every minute of it!
